In this issue:

...Your Annapolis Advocate

Dear Friends:

Things are heating up -- and not just because of climate change.

President Trump and his obstruction of justice are becoming more evident; Gov. Hogan stays silent in the face of Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords; and our great Attorney General is fighting back on behalf of the people of Maryland. Yes, things are happening. Stay tuned -- and keep hydrated!

Press Conference & Rally on Hogan's Environmental Record

Last week while Governor Hogan hosted fellow Chesapeake Bay state officials at the state house, I joined fellow state legislators, environmental activists, and community leaders at a press conference and rally outside to protest the Governor's abysmal environmental record and the President's recent decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.

I noted that the Governor has fired or demoted Bay scientists working at the state Department of Natural Resources, opposed protection of oyster sanctuaries and supported a bill reducing penalties on oyster poachers. Hogan has so far declined to join other governors in reaffirming the state's commitment to the Paris carbon reduction goals.

Attorney General Sues the President

Earlier this year the General Assembly gave Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh the authority to sue the federal government to protect the state from abuses by the federal government. This week Frosh used that authority to sue President Trump for violating anti-corruption clauses in the Constitution by accepting millions of dollars from foreign governments. Read about the lawsuit here.

If this lawsuit or similar ones filed by private citizens and members of Congress are allowed to proceed, Trump may finally have to release his taxes and business records.
